This presentation outlines a novel approach to enhance student engagement and satisfaction with tutoring services in a general chemistry course at Rockhurst University.

To address low participation rates in tutoring sessions, the presenters introduced an extra credit system where students could earn points by completing assignments on challenging concepts (prescriptions) from previous exams, but only if done in the Learning Center with a tutor (filling the prescription). To further encourage students who are doing poorly to participate, the number of points available increases based upon exam scores.

The results showed a significant increase in participation and student and tutor feedback indicated higher satisfaction with the new approach.
