About me
I am Adilene Aguilera, a chemistry teacher at Washington High School on the far southeast side of Chicago. My passion lies in empowering students from diverse and often underprivileged backgrounds to discover their potential in science. I have dedicated myself to transforming students with low motivation into confident, innovative thinkers by encouraging them to create their own literature in chemistry. This approach not only deepens their understanding of the subject but also helps them connect with their passions.
One of the highlights of my work is the Annual Community Conference, where my students take the lead in organizing and showcasing their projects. Sharing meals together during this event fosters a strong sense of community and belonging among them. I also strive to address food insecurity, ensuring that every student feels supported and valued.
Through my efforts, I aim to inspire my students not just academically, but also as engaged members of their community. I believe that with the right tools and motivation, every student can become a powerful scientist and a positive agent of change.
