About me
Alexandra (Ally) Collard is a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Science and Mathematics Education (SESAME) at UC Berkeley. She holds Bachelor's degrees in Chemistry and Math and a Secondary Science Teaching License with Math endorsement from the University of Colorado Boulder and a Master's degree in Chemistry from Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Ally was also a high school Chemistry teacher in Colorado, where she worked to teach Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry from an inquiry-based learning approach. Left with many questions about how to better teach Chemistry to best support all students from diverse backgrounds, she then turned to chemistry education research at UC Berkeley. Based on her experience as a chemist and as a science teacher, Ally’s current research focuses on pre-service science teachers’ preparation in facilitating lab activities safely and sustainably within their classrooms.
