About me
Doug Schirch, PhD, is a Professor of Chemistry at Goshen College, a Hispanic-Serving Institution and liberal arts school in northern Indiana with an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 850 students. He teaches organic and biochemistry courses for majors and non-majors. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Michigan State University. Prior to having taught at Goshen for 20 years he taught for 10 years at U.S.-accredited colleges in Nicaragua. He has also led multiple study-abroad courses ranging from 3 to 14 weeks in Peru, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. His primary research focus is in chemical education for underrepresented and first-generation students.
