ChemEd 2025

Dr. Paul Brandt has been teaching college chemistry for over 30 years. For the past 24years, he has been at North Central College (NCC) in Naperville, IL where he currentlyserves as Chair of the department. Here he developed a course that investigated chemistrydemonstrations as the driver for the content. Energy of Science is another coursedeveloped solely for elementary education majors that incorporated all of the naturalsciences using “energy” as the theme to connect them. Brandt has specialized in outreachwith K-12 education having brought ChemEd 2019 to NCC. In 2014, NCC began hosting ASM summer camps for 6-12 educators and in 2018hosted the first K-5 camp. Brandt is active with the Chicago Local Chapter of the AmericanChemical Society (ACS).For the National ACS, Brandt serves on the Committee on Public Relations andCommunications and is one of the Chicago Councilors.
