Discover how a single chemical reaction can become an endlessly reusable tool for teaching progressively complex chemistry concepts. In this workshop, high school chemistry teachers will explore how one well-chosen reaction can start with the basics—such as observing physical and chemical changes—and advance seamlessly into deeper topics like redox reactions, stoichiometry, energy transformations, and electron transfer.

Through hands-on activities and engaging discussions, you’ll learn how to guide students through this reaction multiple times, each experience building on the last to introduce more advanced ideas and spark deeper insights. We’ll share strategies for creating lesson plans and assessments that encourage students to revisit and analyze the reaction from new angles, building their understanding step by step.

By the end of this session, you’ll leave equipped with adaptable materials and techniques that let one reaction grow alongside your students’ skills and curiosity, revealing chemistry as a layered and ever-evolving science. Join us and see how one reaction can provide a foundation for a year of exploration, discovery, and excitement in the classroom.
